The Office of the County Recorder(formerly Register of Deeds) is responsible for recording and processing all legal documents related to real estate. These documents include deeds, mortgages, assignments, satisfactions, liens, leases, plats, letters testamentary, patents, easements, and other related documents. (Mechanics Liens) All recordings are open to the public during normal business hours. A document presented for recording or filing must be sufficiently legible to reproduce a readable copy using the county recorder's of title's current method of reproduction. We also file all financing statements (UCC's), Tax liens, both federal with a state listing provided each day. We file all underground installation cards. North Dakota land survey monument records are filed in each individual county. As custodians of vital records of the county, we have the responsibility of protecting and preserving the proof of rights of property ownership.
