Road Construction Season Begins
Barnes County motorists will encounter temporary delays this summer when crews resurface a total of 25 miles at 3 project locations. Work includes Milling and Asphalt Overlay. County Park enthusiasts can also expect some delays as crews will be completing asphalt overlay projects in both Clausen Springs and Little Yellowstone Parks.
Specific project locations include; Barnes County 27, beginning at I94 and ending 14 miles north. Barnes County 22, beginning at the Stutsman County line extending east 5 miles to the Village of Eckelson and Barnes County 22 from ND Highway 1 extending east 6 miles to I94.
According to Kerry Johnson, Barnes County Highway Superintendent, “Knife River Materials, Inc. will begin milling and patching on Monday, April 25th” . These resurfacing projects are expected to be completed by the end of May, weather permitting.Pilot cars and flaggers will guide traffic through the project areas. During construction and road maintenance work, Johnson urges motorists to “drive with caution in work zones, and to expect the unexpected. Be patient, plan ahead and expect delays, especially during peak travel times”.
Barnes County 17s (Old #1) will remain restricted to 6 ton per axel.
