Correctional Facility

The mission of the Barnes County Corrections Facility is to protect the public by maintaining proper custody of offenders sentenced by a court of law or being detained for criminal violations and waiting an initial appearance before a court of law; to provide a safe and healthy environment for all staff and inmates; and to offer work, education and treatment programs when possible, encouraging inmates to make the needed changes to be law-abiding and successful in society.

Office Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM
Visitation Hours: Every second Sunday of the Month from 12:30-4:30
Every Wednesday: 1:00 PM-4:30 PM and 7:00 PM-8: 30 PM except holidays.

Daily rate for boarding: $65.00
Work Release: extra $15.00 per day paid by inmate

The facility currently has a staff of 10 full time officers in addition to the administrator. The facility prepares and serves all the inmates meals. The facility can house both male and female inmates and a capacity for up 32 inmates.

Qualifications of Correctional Officers: All officers attend a 120 hour course of study approved by the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations. Officers must also be certified in first aid and CPR. The officers are required to continue their training hours by attending forty hours of additional training every three years from the date of their original eighty hours of training. The officers are also given in-house training on topics related to the jails duties and policies.
